Artella Mae Ross Weeter, 87, of Virginia Street, Moundsville, died Sunday, July 27, 1997 at Mound View Health Care.

She was born February 1, 1910, in West Virginia, the daughter of the late Jess and Maude Evans Ross.

She was a retired sales clerk from the former G & W Auto Supply, A & P Supermarket, and GC Murphy Co.

She was also a retired dispatcher for the Moundsville Police Department, and a member of Simpson United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir.

Artella was also a renowned local poet.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Calvin Weeter in 1987; two brothers, Hubert and Charles Ross.

She is survived by one daughter, Lorayne Fischer of Moundsville; two grandsons, Mark Palmer of Moundsville, and Bryan Palmer of Morgantown; a granddaughter, Lindsay Fischer of Moundsville.

The family will receive friends Monday 7-9 p.m. at Grisell Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 P.m., with Dr. William Calhoun officiating.

Interment will follow in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park.
