Services Set For Packing Firm Veteran

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Messiah Lutheran church for Hans Knuppel, 72, who died Wednesday in Mercy hospital after an illness of about five years. He had been in the hospital about 2 1/2 weeks.

A longtime employe of Wilson and Co., Knuppel came to the United States from his native Germany in 1913. He worked for Wilson and Co. 32 years. He retired about seven years ago.

After his retirement from the packing company, Knuppel became parking lot attendant at the Central branch YMCA. He was forced to retire from that job about two years ago because of his illness.

A resident of Oklahoma City since 1916, he was a member of the Messiah Lutheran church, and formerly attended the Zion Lutheran church. In May, 1949, Knuppel received a certificate for 25 years service at Wilson and Co.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby, of the home; two sons, Hans Delbert Knuppel, 1521 NW 49, and John Albert Knuppel, 2713 NW 67; two daughters, Mrs. Johanna Barthel, Niagara Falls, N. Y., and Mrs. Marie Queen, route 6, Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; two brothers, Rudolph and Albert Knuppel, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Hayden, all of Berlin, Germany.

The Guardian funeral home made service arrangements.
