W. A. Wortley, 66, Dies Suddenly In Hospital
W. A. Wortley, prominent farmer of Washtenaw county, near South Lyon, died in St. Joseph's hospital, Ann Arbor, Wednesday night at about 11 o'clock. He had been taken to the hospital in the ambulance that day and was operated on. Mr. Wortley had not been well for some time.
Funeral service will be held at Phillips Funeral Home Saturday at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. R. C. G. Williams officiating. Burial will be in South Lyon cemetery.
William Albert Wortley, son of William R. and Minerva Wortley was born near Blissfield, April 28, 1878 where he spent the early part of his life, till 1912 when he moved to the farm southwest of South Lyon where he lived the rest of his life.
On Oct. 20, 1904 he had married Minnie E. Hines of Adrian. Three children were born to them: Lynn H., Clare E. and Eva M. who preceded her father in death Nov 23, 1931 at the age of 17.
He was a member of Zion United Brethren church near Blissfield till coming to this locality at which time he joined the First Methodist church of South Lyon, and was a faithful attendant until his health failed.
Besides his wife and two sons he is survived by four grand children, one brother and four sisters.
