Juanita “Sis” Rogers Esketh went to be with her Savior at the Tygart Center on Friday August 23, 2013 at the age of 102. Sis was born on October 21, 1910 in Monongah, WV. She was the eldest daughter of the late Thomas and Ollie Boone Rogers.

“Aunt Sis” as she was known to everyone, was a lifelong member of the Monongah Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school classes from the nursery to the adult woman’s class. She loved studying her Bible and talked about salvation to everyone. She was very proud of the fact that she had helped to rear her brothers and sisters. She had ten siblings and loved each one very dearly.

She is survived by one sister, Rita Slayton, who resides in Dayton, Ohio; and a sister-in-law Bernice Rogers of Monongah. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and cousins. Sis is remembered by many whom she taught in Sunday school because of the positive words, a smile and a stick of chewing gum she always had for them. She touched many lives.

In addition to her parents, Sis was preceded in death by her husband, Noel J. Esketh; three sisters, Ann Eicher, Betty Leach, and Dorothy Wilson; six brothers, Milburn, W.F., McCue, Harry, Brentford, and Riedy Rogers.

Friends and family may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday August 27, in the funeral home with Pastor David Huckins officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to her beloved Monongah Baptist Church, 256 Lyndon Ave. Monongah, WV 26554
