Lourania (Lewrania) Adkins was born about 1785 and married Daniel A. Dunham on August 2, 1805 in Williamson Co., TN. Daniel was a justice of the peace in the 12th district of Davidson County in 1820 and moved to Tipton Co. TN before the 1830 U.S. Census. The family then moved to Texas around 1837, and in route Daniel A. Dunham dies. Mrs. Dunham brought the children to Texas as planned and occupied the Retreat Plantation in Montgomery Co., Texas that Daniel had arranged to purchase from Jared E. Groce. In 1846 Grimes Co was formed from Montgomery Co. Texas. To this union 11 children were born: William H. Dunham (1807-1826), Elizabeth Virginia Dunham (1808-1886) m. Fisher, Sarah H. Dunham (1811- ) m. Temple, Daniel Thomas Dunham (1814-1861), Robert Holmes Dunham (1817-1843), Joseph Henry Dunham (1819-1884) m. Wood and Cotten, Lorania A. Dunham (1821-1874) m. Hill, Martha A. Dunham (1823-1841) m. Wood and Baldwin, Rebecca J. Dunham (1825-1911) m. Wood, John Hamilton Dunham (1828-1853) m. Wood, and Eleanor A. Dunham (1830-1847) m. Rogers. Mrs. Dunham, along with 4 of her children, 5 Son or Daughter in-laws, and 3 Grandchildren are buried in the Dunham-Wood Cemetery in Grimes Co., Texas.
