Ralph F. Barbee, 81, of Covington, passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, in his home surrounded by his family.

He was born May 19, 1927, in Casstown to the late Clorel R. "Shorty" and Loda (Clevenger) Barbee.

He was a 1946 graduate of Piqua Central High School. Ralph married Wilma Mader on Sept. 5, 1950, in Covington and she survives. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1950-52, during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired farmer and also retired from Hobart Brothers in 1991, after more than 39 years of service. He was a member of the Farm Bureau in Miami County and the Friedens Lutheran Church in Covington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Betty Barbee Jr.

Ralph will be missed and remembered by his wife and best friend, Wilma (Mader) Barbee of Covington; sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Christine Barbee of Piqua, Jerry and Lisa Barbee and Tim Barbee of Covington; grandchildren and their spouses, Jill and Jody Balser of Piqua, Rita and Terry Puthoff of Ft. Knox, Ky., Kelly and Mike Schellhouse of Tipp City, Jeffery Barbee, Jennifer Barbee, James Barbee, and Johnathon Barbee, all of Covington; great-grandchildren, Patrick Puthoff and Alyssa Schellhouse; half sisters, Jennie Gloyd of Bellefontaine and Mary Lingo of Springfield; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Wanda Barbee of Lena; and extended family and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate his life will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Friedens Lutheran Church, Covington with Pastor Keith Falk officiating. Tri-Village Color Guard will have graveside military services at Miami Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington.
