Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Bryant Chilton, age 78, were held Thursday, September 12th in the Lyon Funeral Home. Mrs. Chilton, who was born in Adair County, August 25th, 1890 the daughter of James Levy and Sarah Ann Bailey Bryant, had been living with a son, James G. Bryant, before moving to the Boston Rest Home here in Campbellsville. Mrs. Chilton was first married to Walker Bryant who died in 1931. She was then married in 1933 to E. P. Chilton who died in 1953. Mrs. Chilton died Tuesday, September 10th and Dr. J. Chester Badgett officiated at the funeral rites. Interment was in the Columbia Cemetery in Adair County. Survivors include a foster son, Bill Gilliam of Nashville; one son, James, Route 3, Campbellsville; and four daughters, Mrs. Arthur (Leona) Reichle, Jeffersonville, Indiana; Mrs. Macy (Mary) Bowling, Munfordville; Mrs. Lewis (Hattie) Phillips, Springfield and Mrs. Colby (Corine) Cowherd of Lexington. Nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Pallbearers were Maurice Rogers, George Sexton, Richard McWhorter, Grover Rogers, Douglas Bright and Robert Boston.
