Wilbur Farrar, was fire chief
Greenfield - Wilbur N Farrar, 69, of Miles Hotel, former Conway fire chief, died Saturday at the hotel.
He was a retired machinist for the former Threadwell Tap & Die. Co.
Born in Conway, he graduated from the former Conway High School, and was fire chief for several years during the 1940's.
He was a member of Shelburne Falls Eagles.
He leaves his son, Alan of Ashfield, three daughters Loretta Olson of Hatfield, Geraldine Peterson of Turners Falls, and Patricia Clary of Greenfield; a sister Mary Graves of Florida and 11 grandchildren.
The funeral will be private. Burial will be in the spring in Howland Cemetery, Conway. McCarthy Funeral Home is in charge. Donations in his memory may be made to the Conway Volunteer Fire Department.
