Jewel Q. Mears, 95, of Marlin passed away Thursday, September 25, 2003 at a Temple hospital. Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 27, at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin with Dr. Richard Jenkins officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin. Jewel Hambrick married Milton Mears on March 26,1925. He preceded her in death on February 9, 1978. They lived in the Cedar Springs Community for many years before moving to Marlin. She was a lifetime member of Cedar Springs Methodist Church and was a past worthy matron of the Eastern Star. In earlier years, she was active in the Falls County Home Demonstration Clubs. She was a seamstress and an artist and shared her talents with her family and friends. She loved to play "Chicken Foot" and "84" and remained active in the Allen House "42" Club until recently. Survivors include daughters Dorothey Ocher of Victoria, Verna Albright and husband Elmer and Billie Odenbach and husband Bubba, all of Marlin; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. One granddaughter, Gay Albright preceded her in death. Pallbearers were grandsons: Elmer Lee Albright, Milton Albright, Mike Ocker, Larry Odenbach, Keith Odenbach and Kevin Odenbach. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Marlin, Cedar Springs Methodist Church or the Organ Fund at First Methodist Church in Marlin.
