Shirley Janet Blankenship was born on August 29, 1940 in Davenport, Oklahoma. On April 26, 2012 after a courageous fight with a long standing illness, she passed away peacefully, surrounded by family in Round Rock, Texas. She was one of five children born to the late Donald and Lilly Bearden.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Don and Laurie Shelton, her daughter and son-in-law Sharla and Brad Smith, her step-daughter Denise Dunn, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shirley loved life and looked for the colorful and fun aspects in everything she did. She had a passion for crafts and particularly loved to sew creating everything from clothes for her children to colorful quilts for her friends.

The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Parks Brothers Funeral Home at 617 Manvel Avenue in Chandler, Oklahoma with her funeral service to follow at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be at the Oak Park Cemetery in Chandler, Oklahoma.
