Lawrence E. "Bud" Brooks was born in Riverside, California to parents Elver and Blanch Brooks and passed away peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2007 at the age of 85 after a struggle with cancer. Bud spent his career dedicated to law enforcement, retiring as the Under Sheriff of Riverside County. He and his wife retired and moved to Paradise in 1972. They enjoyed square dancing, traveling and camping in their RV with their friends. One of Bud's favorite pastimes was fishing.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 60 years, June, and his eldest son, Larry. He is survived by his youngest son, Gerry and granddaughters Amy Gunter and Tiffany Ragan. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Addison Gunter, Nick Ragan, Olivia Ragan, and Alex Ragan. He will be missed by his family and friends.

A private family graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or the SPCA, P.O. Box 0965, Wilton, NH 03086-0005 in care of Brusie Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
