YOUNG, ALVIN ISAAC - Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on February 4, 2002, Mr. Alvin Isaac Young of Pennfield, NB, husband of the late Lela A. (Whittier) Young, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour. Born in Pennfield on March 12, 1915, he was a son of the late George and Maude (Trynor) Young. A loving father and grandfather, Alvin is survived by one son; Roger and his wife, Mary of Canal, three daughters; Anita, Mrs. Thomas Hawkins, Lori, Mrs. Danny Hill and Sheila, Mrs. Hal Hardy, all of Pennfield, four grandchildren; Chris Young (Tina), Amy Hill (Dennis), Scott Hill (Sara) and Randy Bayers (Mary Ellen); three great grandchildren; Ryan and Shelby Hardy and Chris Hawkins; two brothers; Clarence of Blacks Harbour and Earl (Frances) of St. Stephen; three sisters; Rita Kingette of St. Stephen; Evelyn (Alton) Hewett of Calais, Maine; and Esther (Merle) Johnson of St. Stephen; one special son-in-law; Burt Bayers (Joan Kinney) of St. Stephen and one special sister-in-law; Mrs. Gladys Young of Pennfield, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife, one granddaughter, Trina Rose Hill; one brother; Arnold and one sister; Louise Beck-Woods. Alvin was a Veteran of WWII. He served with the Saint John Fusilliers from July 1942-Sept. 1945. He served with a special Honor Guard for the Royal Visit during that time. He was a member of the Pennfield United Baptist Church where he served as Honorary Deacon. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 39 Black's Harbour and a member of the Fundy Tide Seniors Club. Resting at the Pennfield United Baptist Church from where the service will be held on Wednesday at 2 PM. Interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the Church on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and on Wednesday from 10 am until noon. Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 39 will hold their Tribute Service on Tuesday at 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or to a charity of the Donors choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to THE ST. GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB (755-3533).
