Helen Eileen Woods "Eilene" was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Sioux City, Iowa, the twin daughter of John Oliver and Minnie H. (Seaton) Woods. Attended school in Onawa, Iowa, active in the school orchestra during early childhood, band (including marching band) and sports, before graduating Onawa High School in 1944. Eilene attended Morningside College in Sioux City as did her sister, Elaine.

On April 16, 1949, she married Stanley J. Fjeldos, in Dakota City, Nebraska. From this union five children were born, Warren, Marilynne, Craig, Bryan, and Gayle. They lived mainly in Sioux City, Iowa and Vancouver, Washington. On February 14, 1960, married Cecil Clarence Holt, in Washington. They made their home in Washington until their divorce. Eilene and family returned in live in Onawa before returning to Vancouver in 1977. Married Otto Max Staples, on Janjuary 25, 1987, in Clackamas, Oregon.

In the 1990s, Mrs. Holt-Staples started the Music Aires band and played for senior dances in the area. She played the trumpet and drums.

Survivors include her husband, Otto "Max" Staples at home; three daughters, Marilynne McCrackin, Gayle Block and Kim Heupel, all of Vancouver; four sons, Warren Fjeldos and Craig Fjeldos, both of Vancouver, Bryan Fjeldos of Green Bay, Wis., and Dale Holt of Woodland; a twin sister, Elaine Johnson of Onawa, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Eilene was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Capt. Odell Seaton Woods on June 10, 1945.
