Mr. Milton Yates, 77, formerly of Washington County, died Wednesday, Jan. 25 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia following a brief illness.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 27 at the chapel of Crestlawn Funeral Home in Macon with Rev. Timothy Long and Rev. Elder officiating.
Mr. Yates was the son of the late Morris L. Yates and Ida Brown Yates.
He was born September 19, 1911 and had lived in Macon for 39 years.
He was a member of the First Methodist Evangelical Church in Macon, the VFW, the American Legion, and AARP. He was retired from Robins Air Force Base, Warner Robins, and farmed for many years. He served his country in the Air Force from 1941-1946.
Survivors include his wife, Madeleine W. Yates; a son, Douglas Hatcher of Marietta; a daughter, Darla Key of Macon; five grandsons, two granddaughters, three great-granddaughters; three sisters, Iris Cook, Maude Dudley, Lois Turner of Sandersville; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews, Morris Yates and John Yates.
Crestlawn Funeral Home in Macon was in charge of the arrangements.
