Dona Rae Acaiturri

Dona Rae Acaiturri, a 77-year-old resident of Oakley, died Thursday, June 29, 2006, at Sun Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Twin Falls, with her family by her side.

Dona was born March 21, 1929, in Murtaugh, Idaho, the daughter of Enoch and Alice Burns Dayley. Dona was married to Philip "Sunny" Acaiturri in Elko, Nevada, and they had six children together. Dona worked at J.R. Simplot for 10 years. Her greatest joy was being a wife and mother. She loved horseback riding, crocheting, cooking, antique shopping, and playing with her grandchildren.

Dona is survived by her six children, Linda Gomez of Boise, Terri (Allen) Lee of Burley, Kim (Mike) Hunter of Oakley, Wendy (Rick) Larson of Burley, Jeffrey Acaiturri of Oakley, and Micheal (Paul) Barnes of Malta; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Richard and Dempsey Dayley; three sisters, Iloise, Wanda, and Colleen; and one great-granddaughter, Bridgett Rose Gomez.

A vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2006, at Little Flower Catholic Church, 1601 Oakley Ave., Burley. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2006, also at Little Flower Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Reginald Nwauzor as celebrant. Burial will be in the Basin Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church on Sunday, prior to the vigil service and on Monday, prior to the funeral Mass.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rasmussen Funeral Home in Burley.
