Elizabeth Mae Chapmon Shown who married Roy Green Shown on March 23, 1925. Elizabeth was called "Lizzie" by many and also sometimes called "Mae" by her husband. For her grandchildren, we called her "Granny Shown". Granny was a woman who took a lot of pride in how her home looked. She kept a very clean house in spite of working outside in her large vegetable garden. She was tireless in getting her vegetables picked and either would can them or put them in the freezer. Once her and Granddaddy even had a pig that grew very big and had little piglets. They slaughtered the pig when it was ready and the meat was frozen for the winter.

Granny was an avid seamstress and made her granddaughters dresses which were made out of 'flour sacks'. She would also make coats and hats and she always put a lot of love into getting the prettiest dresses from the material that she had. Granny was a kind woman but was also a believer in children being obedient. So we didn't get by with much. She was a fantastic cook and she could make the best coconut cake and other pastries. One favorite is how she would make homemade apple and peach pies on top of the stove.

She is survived by 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. She and Granddaddy would have been married 50 years but she passed away a couple of weeks before their anniversary.

Although Granny has been with the Lord since March 1974 there are times when she is remembered for so many things and she is missed.
