Florence E. Bowles, 87, of Lincoln died at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 1997, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.

Mrs. Bowles was retired from Hembreikers Florists and from Lincoln State School, forerunner of Lincoln Developmental Center, where she worked for 20 years.

She was a member of Holy Family Church, the Holy Family Society, Ladies of the Moose, Eagles Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary.

She was born July 22, 1909, in Lincoln, a daughter of John and Caroline Dutlinger Sassenberger. She married Donald Bowles April 11, 1943, in St. Charles, Mo. He died Nov. 27, 1973.

Surviving are two nephews, Ron and Cal Maxheimer, both of Flint, Mich.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sister. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30p.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Church, with Monsignor Norman Goodman officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Holland and Barry Funeral Home, with the rosary recited at 5 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Holy Family Church or Carroll Catholic School.
