Linden was born on November 1, 1933 the son of John and Alice (Harmon) Gross in Algona, Iowa. Lindy attended school in Hayfield and graduated in 1952. Linden was united in marriage on June 30, 1954 to Dorothy A. Kubista at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Litomysl. The couple made their home in Owatonna. Lindy went to work for Uber Glove Company and continued to work there for 17 years. Afterward, Lindy worked for the Owatonna Public Utilities in the water department and became the water dept. supervisor and he retired after 33 years of service. Lindy was a member of the Owatonna Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph Catholic Church. His life interests included fixing cars, motorcycle riding, square dancing, camping, fixing things around the house, and fishing. He was known to have caught the largest fish on many of their trips "Up North". He volunteered at the Knights of Columbus food stand at the fair and worked on the Tootsie Roll drive for many years. Lindy also enjoyed a good card game such as cribbage or pinochle.
Lindy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy. Three children: Gail (Robert) Pete of Onamia, MN; Dale (Debbie) Gross of Owatonna; and Kevin J. Gross of Byron. Eight grandchildren: Joseph, Robert and Amber Pete; Benjamin Gross, Katie (Jason) Born, Jeffrey (Alanda) Gross, Zachary Gross, and JiaYin Gross. Two brothers Alvin (Dorothy) Gross of Dodge Center and Ronald Gross of Florida, three sisters Evelyn (Lowell) Trom of Blooming Prairie, MN Ermadell (Theodore) Knutson of West Concord, MN Joanne (James) Whitcomb of Hayfield, MN. Lindy was preceded in death by his granddaughter Crystal Pete, parents; two sisters LaVonne Gross and Celia Marini. Memorials are preferred to St. Joseph Church, SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) or Alzheimer's Association of Minnesota.
