He was born December 12, 1924 in Marietta, Texas, as a son of the late Rufus Marvin Boney and Geneva Cromer Boney.
Winford was married to Betty LeNell Shew Boney on December 18, 1954. They were married for 57 years and she preceded him in death on September 9, 2011.
Winford was a chef for all of his life and known by many as "The Pie Man." His pies had four inches of meringue. He retired from Stephen F. Austin State University's food services department.
He had a love for Cadillac automobiles. He also had a great love for music and playing the piano. He enjoyed Rock 'n Roll and Gospel music. He loved to cook and taught Betty about cooking. He had a love for all sports, but his favorite was basketball. Winford graduated from high school in Cass County, where he played basketball. He was a hard working man all of his life. Telling jokes and making people laugh brought great pleasure to him. He loved to watch television while laying on the couch with his eyes closed.
His survivors include his daughter, Beverly Ann Williams and husband Randall of Nacogdoches and his sons, Stephen Earl Boney of Melrose and Carl Lynn Boney of Richardson, Texas.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Orville Ray "Sarge" Boney and J.D. Boney (FAG memorial 32382868) and a sister, Louella Boney Brombaugh.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30pm Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, with Brother Wayne Shew officiating.
