Michael "Matlock" Barnes was a classmate of mine. Unfortunately, his life came to an end after a tragic car accident in late October.
I went to his wake. His family had placed pictures all around from his childhood up to his more recent pictures. The next night was his Visitation, where myself and many of our fellow classmates signed a Rebel flag (Rebel flags are quite popular around my area, as it is known as the high school's Mascot, etc.). He had a very beautiful coffin, and he looked extremely peaceful.
I go to his grave sometimes to say hello, and it is a wonderful place to "rest" at. His family and friends have decorated an entire corner of the graveyard by a few trees and a tiny trail leading through a "Memory/Prayer Garden", where windchimes blow softly through the trees and ribbons of our old high school's colors blow freely from wreaths of flowers.
