FRED W. STONE
Fred W. Stone, 56, native and lifelong resident of Bennington, died this morning at Putnam Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past few weeks. His illness had been over a long period and became critical in recent weeks.
Born in Bennington Oct 19, 1902, he was the son of the late Fred and Della Prue Stone. He had attended Sacred Heart School. For a number of years, he was with the personnel of Haynes & Kane store and later was with the Margaret Stuart furniture store.
Mr. Stone was well known in the community. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Catholic Foresters.
His marriage to Miss Yvonee Turgeon was solemnized at Sacred Heart Church by the late Monsignor J.A. Campeau. They have made their home here since that time.
Survivors besides his wife are one son, Robert A. Stone, Air Force, stationed at Forbes A.F. Base, Topeka, Kan.; two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Doris) Buchanan, Bennington and Mrs. Walter (Barbara) Parmenter, Bennington; three sisters, Mrs. Romeo (Alice) Cote, Shaftsbury, Mrs. Hector (Exilda) Belanger, Bennington and Mrs. Pauline Ganner of Hartford, Conn.; one brother, Joseph Stone, Bennington; seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be held from Mahar Funeral Home Friday at 8:30 am with a prayer and from Sacred Heart Church at 9, where a requeim high Mass will be offered. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7:00 pm tongith.
