On February 2, 1948, June married Donald Wayne Walker of Boise City. Don had just completed his tour of duty in the U.S. Army following WWII. They moved to a small farm west of Boise City where they made their home and started their family. Born to them over a span of 12 years were Joyce, Gary, Janet, and Judy.
In March of 1961, Don died suddenly leaving June a widow with four small children.
June was no stranger to hard work and decided to remain on the family farm where she scratched out a living while raising the children by herself. She continued to manage the farm and lived there until last summer.
In about 1968, June became an Avon representative. She was a firm believer in all Avon products and enjoyed the opportunity it give her to visit with friends and neighbors. She continued to sell Avon for 44 years. In fact, she may be selling Avon today!
June was a member of the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs and enjoyed gardening, canning, her weekly hair appointment, reading TV, and all puzzles. June enjoyed the time she spent with her family, be it one the larger Walker family reunions or a small family gathering in the home or theirs. She also enjoyed the small grandchildren coming to the farm to spend an evening or the weekend...unless there were too many visiting at one time. Needless to say, that is when it was the most fun for the grandkids.
June is survived by one brother, Harvey, of Hope, Kansas, all four of her children and their families, 11 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren with two more to be born this summer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Don, five brothers,
Angus, Deforest, Victor, Isol, Edmond and one sister, Juanita.
June passed away April 25, 2012, in Guymon, Oklahoma at Dunaway Manor where she had been a resident since October. As her mature would by, she fought a hard battle until the good Lord said it was time for her to rest eternally. She will always be missed. The fun memories and funny stories we all sill live in us forever.
