When she had grown to young womanhood she was united in marriage to William E. Kennedy, on October 12, 1890. To this union five children were born; Earl of West Burlington, Iowa; Eldon of Hersman, IL; Kyle, at home; Charles of Rock Island, IL and Frank of Quincy, IL. Besides these she leaves her husband, two sisters, Miss Ethel Newenham and Mrs. Nellie Hume, of Mt. Sterling, and a brother, Roy Newenham of Danvers, IL. another brother, Oliver preceding her in death.
At the age of eighteen she united with the M.E. Church at Marden later transferring her membership to the Presbyterian church at Hersman, where she remained until death called her home.
She was a home-loving soul and made her fireside the circle of a radiant influence for her family and friends. For the past year she has been failing but still kept up gravely. Her last sickness came on rather suddenly with a swift turn for the worse, and soon she was gone.
Funeral services for Mrs. Kennedy were held Friday afternoon at two o'clock from the Presbyterian church, Hersman, Rev. N.F. Chapman officiating, assisted by Rev. R. L. Schwab of Mt. Sterling. Mrs. Marie Dunan very beautifully sang the favorite hymns and with sorrowing heart she was laid away in the Mt. Sterling City cemetery.
