Virgie Rozell Howland, 94, of Fredericksburg died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009.
Mrs. Howland was born Aug. 18, 1915, in Alabama, a daughter of the late Lee Roy and Lola Crabtree Rozell. She was known to her family as "Snooks."
A prolific quilter, she gifted quilts to all family members, and on special occasions of births and weddings. She was an avid antiques collector, and she enjoyed tending her roses. Mrs. Howland retired from the FMC plant and continued working with her brothers at Rozell Brothers Grocery in Guinea. She was a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church in King George.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Howland was preceded in death by her first husband, John Milton Joblin; and second husband Lewis H. Howland; her siblings, Dawson Girland Rozell, Lorraine Rozell Anthony, Macwayne Rozell, Amelda Rozell Acors, Gene Rozell, Margie Rozell Serett, Bonnie Rozell and Ray Rozell.
Survivors include her brother, Cecil T. Rozell of Heathsville; an aunt, Mary Nunnery of Spotsylvania County; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends, including longtime friend, Mary Lee Ellis.
A funeral was held Monday, Nov. 30, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Randolph M. Newsome officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Gary Rozell, Maxie Rozell, David Rozell, Ronnie Acors, Blake Rozell and Lonnie Serrett.
