Harry attended Jefferson School and served in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from the C&O Railroad and Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity. He was a faithful and dedicated member of Zion Union Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the trustee Board for many years.
Harry is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Mary Johnson Allen; one son, Gerald Allen; two grandchildren, Spencer Washington of Madison, Virginia, and Krewzs Williams of Charlottesville, Virginia; one brother, Mason C. Allen of Charlottesville, Virginia; four nephews; a great-niece; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at Zion Union Baptist Church, 1015 Preston Avenue. The Reverend Lloyd A. Cosby Jr., Pastor, delivered the eulogy. Interment at Oakwood Cemetery.
