Jose Pilar De Luna, 89, of Lompoc passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Jose was born to Catarino and Marcos (Moreno) De Luna on October 12, 1922 in Irving, Texas. He and his wife, Casimira (Ramirez), moved to Santa Maria in 1965 and then Santa Barbara before settling in Lompoc in 1979.
Mr. De Luna was an accomplished gardener and spent his more than 30 year career in landscaping. In retirement he took great pride in his gardening and won numerous beautification awards for his home on West College Ave. He was also a parishioner of La Purisima Catholic Church.
Jose is survived by his daughters; Maria Garcia, Mary Gutierrez, Maria Elena Morales and Olivia Solorio, sons; Joe and Jesse De Luna, and sisters; Maria Cruz Suarez of Oxnard and Angela De La Cruz of Fresno. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 52 years, Casimira in 1996 and sons; Gilbert and Antonio De Luna.
A visitation will be held at the Chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 5 to 8pm with the Rosary at 7pm. The Funeral Mass will at La Purisima Catholic Church on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 10am, followed by burial in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
