Janet Sue Waddell, 61, Victoria, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at her son's home in Hays.
She was born June 4, 1950 in McCook, Nebraska the daughter of Francis R. and Wilburma "Billie" (Sheilds) Winkler. On September 25, 1972 she married Eric F. Waddell in Hays. They were later divorced. She was a graduate of Decatur County High School in Oberlin, Kansas, attended Fort Hays State University for two years, was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, loved to research genealogy, read and do crosswords, was involved in a local bridge club, and was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother.
Survivors include her son Joshua G. Waddell and his wife Tina of Hays, Kansas, a sister Joyce Misiag and her husband Tom of Albuquerque, NM, her partner Lt. Col. David T. Penn, United States Marine Corps of Victoria, Kansas, grandchildren Ethan, Madelyn, and Wyatt Waddell of Hays, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine Street. Cremation will take place after the services. Friends may call on Monday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 and on Tuesday from 12:00 noon until service time, all at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Council of Ellis County, the Angels Care Home Health, or to Hospice of Hays Medical Center, in care of the funeral home.
