ASHTON, Gladys M., 80, Stuart, Fla., formerly of Lowell, died Aug. 19, 1984 at Jasper County Hospital, Rensselaer.

She was a retired businesswoman and a third-generation owner of the Davis Store, Lowell, from 1938-55. She also was the original owner of Ashton's Women's Apparel, Kentland, in 1946. She had resided in Stuart since her retirement in 1955. She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Crown Point and Stuart.

Surviving are two sons, Eugene, Kentland, and Duane, Elgin, Ill.; one daughter, Margery Beier, Lowell; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandchild and her husband, C.R. (Jack) Ashton, in 1965.

Memorial services were conducted Aug. 24 at the Sheets-Love Funeral Home, Lowell.
