Leslie was a member of Grace Bible Church and had worked at Morgan Door for many years. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He received the United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the National Service Medal. In his early years he enjoyed hunting on the family farm with his brothers. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time at his land near Plainfield. He loved time spent with Gabrielle and Brandon.
Survivors include his wife, Christine; devoted daughter, JoAnn (Tim) Drexler and their children, Gabrielle and Brandon; step children, Paula (Arlin) Rothe, Tim Doolittle, Dawn (Carl) Becker; children from his first marriage, Diana Redemann, Leslie Dale(Sheri) Applebee Jr., Kevin (Valinda) Applebee; and his brother, Fred Applebee. He is further survived by many grandchildren, and step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers, Henry, Royden, Clifford, William, Donald, Harrell, Basil, Frank, and sisters, Myrtle Chroninger and Evelyn Smith.
The funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Westside) with Pastor Paul Turner and Chaplin Laura Hawkins officiating. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
