Jeanne V. Nibler was born in Columbia, (Boone County) Mo., on June 14, 1915, to Eugene and Nancy May Homsley. She lived in Missouri as a young lady. She married and moved to Lincoln, NE where she lived for many years. She worked as a licensed practical nurse for ten years at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. She was a member of the Kiwanis Club in Lincoln. While living in Lincoln she wrote poetry and worked as a newspaper reporter. She enjoyed painting, antiques, and history. She was a curator of the Bess Streeter Aldrich Foundation of Elmwood. In the 1990s she moved to Florida, and she came to Napa in 2005 to be near her son.

Her first husband, Dr. Andrew B. Schultze, was a faculty member in the School of Agriculture at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, for many years. He was also a faculty member at the University of Missouri-Columbia before moving to Nebraska. Her second husband, Crawford Nibler, was also a University of Nebraska Agriculture faculty member.
