Clyde Waldron, age 87, of Stockbridge passed away April 23, 2018 following a short illness. Born in Douglas, GA to the late Banner Waldron and Alice Harrell Waldron, he was the eldest son.

Clyde was preceded in death by his sister Doris Phillips and her husband, Pete Phillips, and his brothers, Banner (Junior) Waldron, Jr., Elijah Waldron, and Billy Waldron. He is survived by his sisters, Shirley Waldron McElroy of Nicholls, GA and Betty Hodgeson of Jacksonville, FL, dear sisters-in-law, June Sills (Mrs. Elijah) Waldron and Jo Ann Tanner (Mrs. Billy) Waldron and numerous nieces and nephews, their spouses and children.

Clyde was married for 41 years to his childhood sweetheart, the late Annie Lois Hursey Waldron. He is survived by his children, Anne Waldron Riggsby, Roswell, GA, Lamar Waldron, Marietta, GA, Sandra Butler and her husband, Steve Butler, Johns Creek, GA, and Rev. Steve Waldron and his wife, Sandi Waldron, Leesburg, GA. He was proud of his grandchildren, Allison Butler, Austin, TX, Ian Butler, Newcastle, U.K., and, Josiah Butler, Johns Creek, GA. Clyde is also survived by his loving friend and companion, Jane Young of Stockbridge, GA.

During his 37-year career with General Motors, primarily at the Lakewood Plant, he also served as Chairman, UAW Local 34, and was a founder and President of Circle 34 Credit Union for many years. Following his retirement, he was a Real Estate Developer and General Contractor for homes and churches. Clyde also served as a combat paratrooper in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He earned the rank of Sargent, received the Purple Heart and other medals and commendations for his service.

Clyde was active in Hampton Heights Church, Morrow First Baptist Church and ACTS Church. He was active and participated in a bowling league for over 40 years.

A Funeral Service was held on Saturday April 28, 2018 at 1:00pm at Tanner Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Adams officiating. The interment followed at Harrell Grove Church Cemetery.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
