Minnie H. Stewart, 82, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012. A native of Sedley, VA, she had been a resident of Hampton for 35 years.

Minnie was a veteran of the Air Force (WAF). She was a Communications Manager with SUPSHIP and retired after 26 years of service. She was an usher and member of Bethel Temple Church.

Minnie is preceded in death by brothers, Burnie Hamlin, Claude Hamlin, Wallace Hamlin, Calvin Hamlin; sisters, Flossie Turner, Glenice Keys, Iola Key, Hattie Artis, Lucille Hamlin, Mamie Ricks; father and mother, Lee and Lillie Mae Ricks Hamlin.

She is survived by her husband, John B. Stewart; daughters, Angela Almond (Reginald), Judy Stewart (Terry Hollars), and Janet Stewart (Larry Spivey).

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 13, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Minnie's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 14 at Bethel Temple, 1705 Todds Lane, Hampton, officiated by Rev. Willie Vine. Interment will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
