Obituary
---Susie E., daughter of Townsend and Celia Hadden of Rice Creek was born March 22, 1869. She united with the Methodist Protstestant[sic] church of her child-hood home in early years, married Chas. D. Cooper of Marengo June 23, 1889 and died at the place which has been her home for nearly thirteen years, Friday morning Jan. 17, 1902.
---A brief life, but a complete one, of only thirty-three years, firmly woven with the christain[sic] virtues and graces that make life desirable, her christ-like gentleness in speech, a rare neighbor and loyal friend, her stay with us, was like one pleasant summer afternoon, the fading of a summer sunset, and all was over.
---Expressions of sympathy are numerous for the lonely husband sorrowing parents. After a fitting service in the Rice Creek church Sunday morning Jan. 19 with sermon and son peculiarly adapted to the occasion, we laid her to rest in the church-yard across the way, and bade good bye to Susie, till we meet where ----"Sickness and sorrow and death are unknown, ----Where gloriis on glories unfoled; ----Where the sun never sets, and the leaves never fade, ----In that beautiful city of gold."

Card of Thanks
Chas. D. Cooper extends heartfelt thanks to friends for proffered help and assistance thro' the illness, death and burial of his wife, Susie E. Cooper.
