Benjamin F. Vaughn Expires at Industry
Benjamin Franklin Vaughn of Rushville passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ernest Kellum of Industry yesterday at 2:00 a.m. Death resulted from cardiac asthma following an illness of a month. He was 91 years old and had spent the greater part of his life in the Industry and Rushville communities. Funeral services are to be conducted tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. at the Clugston Funeral home in Industry by Rev. Alfred E. Linfield and interment is to be in the Industry cemetery. Frienda may call at the Clugston Funeral Home until the time of services. He was the son of John Vaughn and Nancy Huff Vaughn and was born in the state of Virginia on September 1, 1849. He came to Illinois at an early age and lived most of his life on farms near Industry and Rushville. He was a member of the Presbyterian church at Doddsville for many years. He was married on February 9, 1876 to Emma James Frazier who died on June 27, 1910. Four children of this union survive : Ross Vaughn of Moline; Mrs. John Kellum of Industry, and Mrs. Fred Bissell of Quincy. He was married in 1914 to Lydia Layton. He was the last of a family of nine children. Four brothers and four sisters preceded him in death : John Vaughn, William Vaughn, Sam Vaughn, Nicholas Vaughn, Mrs. Eliza Minsinger, Mrs. Mary James Geer, Mrs. Sarah Geer and Mrs. Nancy Meeks. He is survived by 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Both of his parents were born in the state of Virginina.
Benjamin Franklin Vaughn was buried in the old Industry Cemetery located in Industry, McDonough County, Illinois.
