Gilbert Barkley MacLaren, Jr., age 78, of Ridgefield CT, died at home on April 19, 2012. He was a resident of Ridgefield for 37 years. He was born February 13, 1934, in Fort Edward NY, son of the late Gilbert B. MacLaren, Sr., and Anna (Brown) MacLaren. He attended elementary schools in Hudson Falls NY, and his family moved to Pennsylvania in 1942. He graduated from Radnor High School in Radnor PA in 1951 and the University of Maine, Class of 1956. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1959. During his service he graduated from the Military Intelligence Service Language School in Monterey CA and was trained at Fort Meade MD for the ASA (Army Security Agency) prior to being stationed in Okinawa and Taiwan. He worked in risk management insurance for Thiokol Chemical Corp. in Levittown PA, Sanders Associates in Nashua NH, Gillette Company in Boston MA, ITT-Grinnell in Providence RI, and retired from ITT Corporation World Headquarters in New York NY. After retirement Gil also worked at the Ridgefield Golf course.

He was predeceased by his first wife of 11 years, Patricia Jean (Lacock) MacLaren.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Linda Baker MacLaren; daughters Elizabeth Maldonado and husband Michael of San Antonio TX, Laura Powell of Watsontown PA, Julia Anderson and husband Jeff of New Preston CT, and Pamela of Somers NY; sons Gilbert and wife Jane of Lakeville CT, and Geoffrey and wife Audra of Bantam CT; grandchildren Jeffrey, Jason, Joshua, Erin, and Jared Maldonado; Ryan, Connor, and Garett MacLaren; Christopher, Sarah, and Jacob Powell; Briana, Alina, and Tegan Anderson; and Alexandra and Katharine MacLaren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sister Janet Conley of Wilmington DE, brother and sister-in-law Ian and Barbara MacLaren of Argyle NY, and sister-in-law and husband Judy and Ed Hunter of E. Kingston NH, and their families.
