Afterward, in Houston,he went into the sheet metal business with his brother J.T. While in Houston, Ross met his beloved wife Lucretia. They were married in 1952 and raised 2 beautiful children.
While raising his children, Ross followed a few career paths. He owned his own shop and joined the sheet metal union for some time. Later he worked on several high rise jobs before retiring in his early forties. Ross decided to raise cattle all over Milam county during his retirement.
Ross had many talents. He acquired a private pilot's license because of his love to fly. He raised homing pigeons, horses, the occasional squirrel, dogs, cats, cows and chickens. He had a natural air about him that attracted animals, wild and tame, to trust and interact with him. It was quite a spectacle to witness. Ross also became an accomplished guitar player and country singer during his retirement years. Ross loved telling stories and talking about his wild adventures growing up and traveling around with his love Lucretia. He always had a great poker face and really enjoyed playing cards with friends and family.
As Ross and Lucretia grew older they enjoyed relaxing on the farm and going out to eat. Ross was a strong and caring father, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He taught his family great life lessons on living a good, wholesome life. During his last few years, Ross accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He is very much loved and will be missed."
