Mr. Johnson died Sunday at Hopkins County Hospital, Madisonville, after a two-month illness.
A Todd County native, he was born Jan. 22, 1902, the son of Harvey and Lee Shelton Johnson. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a retired painter at Western State Hospital. A son, Charles Edward Johnson, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Stella Rogers Johnson; four sons, Oscar Lee of Houston, Texas, James Garland of Canton, and Paul Owen and Billy Joe Johnson, both of this city, four daughters, Joyce Martin and Clara May Wooldridge, both of Canton, and Shirley Ann Doss and Barbara Sue Berry, both of this city; a half-brother, Sanford Merritt. Corydon, Ind.; 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
