Sherrard - Cecil P. Baxter, 79 of Sherrard a former village mayor, died yesterday morning at his residence.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 tomorrow afternoon at the First Lutheran Church Sherrard, with the Pastor Rev. Michel Clark officiating. Burial will be in Viola Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Kirk 7 Huggins Funeral Home, Orin where memorials may be made to the church.
Mr. Baxter was born 27 May 1901 in Rivoli Township, Mercer Co. the son of John and Clara Stanford Baxter. He was reared and received his education in Viola, Mercer Co. IL.
On 29 June 1921, he married Myrtle Anderson in Viola.
He operated the Sherrard Feed and Seed Store until retiring in 1974.
