Born in Chesterfield Territory, South Carolina, Elizabeth was the second wife of Jason Dodd, also of Chesterfield, Territory, who died along with two of his sons in 1863 during the Civil War in Tennessee. Elizabeth was also the Grandmother of the famed U.S. aviator, Colonel Townsend Foster Dodd.
