Buried in an unmarked grave next to his first wife, Delia Ellen Bourassa. They were married June 21, 1892 in Muskogee, Indian Territory.

"Mr. Cryer of Asher, died last week and was laid to rest in the Wanette Cemetery Saturday. He leaves a host of friends and relatives to mourn his loss."

Married second time to Carrie Ann Navarre on Oct 29, 1909.

Only son of James R. Cryer (KY) and Louriana Crow (GA).

Family legend has it that he was a marshal of some sort, involved in the capture of either Ned Christie or Belle Starr. No records have been found to substantiate either claim.

On his 1900 and 1910 census as well as his death certificate, he is listed as a farmer. However, he worked as a brakeman and switcher for the KATY railroad in the 1890s and early 1900s.

According to his death certificate, he died of pellagra - a niacin deficiency, which lasted for 11 months.
