He entered life in Metamora, Ill., on Nov. 3, 1926.
He moved to California in 1954 with his wife, Lois, seeking opportunities for a better life and found it. Griffith was a resident of Covina for 36 years.
Griffith served in the U.S. Navy from Oct. 20, 1944, to July 24, 1946. Being a proud American, he also served in the U.S. Army from June 22, 1949, to Aug. 26, 1952, rising to the rank of Corporal and experiencing active duty in Korea, receiving five Battle Stars.
Griffith retired from Macy's Department Stores as Director of Store Planning in 1992.
Griffith was an excellent amateur photographer, always looking for the next subject to capture on film. He also enjoyed being creative with his computer programs.
He is survived by his children, Pamela and William; brother, Marvin Jones of Stockton, Mo.; and sister, Vonda Winchell of Germantown Hills, Ill.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Lois; sister, Marguerite; and brothers, Clifford and Ronald.
Griffith was laid into eternal rest with full military honors on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at the Veteran's National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif.
