Walter was the son of Charles W. Richmond and Sarah Dixon Forte.

He was born in Beaverdale, Georgia 25 November 1881 [WWII Draft Registration; 1920 U.S. Census, Ill., Du Page Co., Glen Ellyn, entry 620/640, microfilm].

His family removed to Sumter, Florida by 1885, and Walter removed with his family to Canton, Madison Co., Mississippi by 1900. By 1910 Walter removed to Memphis Ward 26, Shelby Co., Tennessee.

Walter and Jessie Anstice FORBES were married at Chicago, Cook Co., Illinois on 27 July 1916, and they resided there briefly, being enumerated at Glen Ellyn (Milton), Du Page Co., Illinois in 1920. His WWI draft registration card lists his occupation as the President of Goodwill Electric Company.

Their unnamed daughter was born stillborn at Chicago on 27 January 1919 [Illinois, Deaths and Stillbirths Index, 1916-1947].

Their son Walter was born in Tennessee on 6 December 1922.

They resided at Miami (Redland), Dade Co., Florida, in September 1927 [Crossville Chronicle, 8 Sept. 1927; Directory].

Walter removed to Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., Ohio by 1935, where Walter registered for the WWII draft in 1942. By that time he was self-employed and listed his occupation as an inventor. He apparently lived by himself, his wife Jessie resided at Memphis, Selby Co., Tennessee. In 1940, Walter resided, perhaps briefly, with Jessie and their son Walter, at the Memphis home of his mother-in-law and her unmarried sisters.

He, and possibly Jessie A., removed to Boston, Massachusetts by 1943.

Walter is not listed in his wife's will, dated 1950.
