Dempsey Freed, 86 (66) years old, a former resident of Bullskin township,where for many years he was engaged in teaching, died Sunday afternoon at the home of a son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William H. Chambers at Continental No. 1. He had been ill for some time, having suffered several strokes. After quitting the teaching profession Mr. Freed was employed by the H. 0. Frick Coke Company at Lemont. Mr. Freed was a member of the Third Presbyterian Church of Uniontown; the John Knox Class of the Sunday school, and a member of long standing in the Junior Order of United American Mechanics.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs Margaret Freed; seven children, Mrs Pearl Piper, Mrs. Viola Ryan, Mrs Goldie Chambers, Mrs. Evelyn Smalley, Thelma Freed, Paul and Chester Freed; nine grandchildren a brother, F. L. Freed, and a sister. Mrs. R. R. Grimm, the latter two residents of Moyer. The funeral service will be conducted in the Chambers residence at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Dr. E. Conn Pires, his pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Park Place Cemetery, Uniontown (Daily Courier, The, Monday, January 25, 1937, Connellsville, Pennsylvania)
