John Rentzheimer Bachman was born October 4, 1884, in Lower Saucon Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, the son of Titus Overbeck Bachman and Mary Jane Rentzheimer. His grandparents were John Weaver Bachman and Ellevina Overbeck Bachman, as well as Jacob Rentzheimer and Elizabeth Ehrhart Rentzheimer. He married on November 30, 1905, in Hellertown, Northampton County, to Mary Louisa Ruth, daughter of Milton Deemer Ruth and Amanda Campbell Trauger. They were the parents of 2 daughters: Irene Ruth and Joan Louise Bachman. John passed away October 23, 1951, in Hellertown, and was buried in Hellertown Union Cemetery there. John Rentzheimer Bachman was my great-grandfather. --GDF

"BACHMAN--In Hellertown, Oct. 23, 1951, John R. Bachman, aged 67 years, 10 days, South Main St., Hellertown, husband of Mary L. (Ruth) Bachman. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services Friday at 2 p.m. from Templeton Funeral Home, 326 Main St., Hellertown. Masonic services Thursday, 8 p.m. Burial in the Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Friends may call Thursday."

"JOHN R. BACHMAN. John R. Bachman, 67, a retired farmer who gained recognition as a potato grower, died at his residence, South Main St., Hellertown, early this morning. A past president of the Hellertown School District, he was a lifetime resident of the community. He was born October 4, 1884, a son of the late Titus O. and Mary (Rentzheimer) Bachman. A member of Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church, Hellertown, Mr. Bachman served on the consistory of the church and was a member of the Brotherhood. Fraternally he was affiliated with Hellertown Lodge 563, F & AM; Saucana Lodge 606, I.O.O.F., Castle 112, KGE, and was a member of the Dewey Fire Co. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary (Ruth) Bachman; two daughters, Mrs. Myron Parsons, Princeton, Fla., and Miss Joan Louise Bachman, at home, and three grandchildren. Masonic funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday. Friday, at 2 p. m. services will be held at the Templeton Funeral Home, 326 Main St., Hellertown, with the Rev. Dr. E. O. Butkofsky officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Hellertown."

Bachman, who died Tuesday at his residence, South Main St., Hellertown, were held yesterday afternoon at the Templeton Funeral Home, Hellertown, with the Rev. Dr. E. O. Butkofsky, pastor of Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church, Hellertown. Burial was made in Union Cemetery, Hellertown. Serving as pallbearers were Richard Parsons, Harry Hine, Charles Zimpfer and the following members of Hellertown Lodge, F and AM: Paul Huff, H. G. C. Hoffert and Stille Rentzheimer."
