Celete Mae (Cooper) Lawrence

Celeta Mae (Cooper) Lawrence LUBBOCK-Celeta Mae (Cooper) Lawrence, 85, of Lubbock sadly passed away at home, surrounded by her family, after a courageous four-year battle with Alzheimer's. Celeta Mae Koerner was born in Mason, Texas, to Iva Lena (Keith) and Eddie Rudolph Koerner. She had many fond memories of growing up on her ranch with her four brothers. Celeta married Johnnie Cooper in 1945. They had three beautiful children, Billy, Karen and Sharon. They moved to Lubbock in 1961 to raise their family. She was a homemaker and made a living offering daycare in her home for over 40 years, raising many of Lubbock's finest adults. She was an active member of Hub City Wheels, as she loved traveling and fishing. She was an active church member and extremely invested in the activities of her church. Celeta was also a member of the Rebekah's Lodge for many years, serving as Noble Grand twice. After the death of her first husband, she was blessed to marry Charles Lawrence in 1976, and added his sons, Ricky and Don, to her family. Together, Celeta and Charles delivered for Meals on Wheels for over 10 years. She touched the lives of so many with her pretty smile, generous heart and sense of humor. Celeta always gave her heart and soul to everything and everyone she crossed paths with.

Along with her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen; grandson, Josh Lynch; and great-granddaughter, Angel Willis. She leaves behind her husband, Charles; children, Billy Cooper, Sharon Rivers, Ricky Lawrence and Don Lawrence; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be greatly missed by the many lives she touched and leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity. We miss and love you so very much!

Funeral services for Celeta Lawrence will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2012, in the W.W. Rix Chapel with burial following in Resthaven Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends today from 3 to 5 p.m. at Rix Funeral Directors.
