Obituary (Santa Cruz Evening News, 1 Sep 1915, Page 4)

John M. Triplett, a resident of the county for 23 years, passes away at his home in Ben Lomond last night after an illness of a year and a half. For the past two or three weeks he had been bedridden.

The deceased is survived by a wife (Sarah) and two daughters, Mrs. Maude M. Phillips of Covina, and Mrs. Ethel M. Parks of Los Angeles; and three sons, J. Frank Triplett of Rockland, Idaho; Vern W. and J. Gilbert Triplett of Ben Lomond.

He crossed the plains from Missouri when 18 years old, going to Montana where he followed mining for a few years and later went to Utah. He freighted between Butte, Montana and Scipio, Utah, and then engaged in the cattle business. He was married in Scipio and lived there for 12 years, coming to San Bernardino in 1880. Five years later he moved to Modoc county, CA leaving there in 1891 and locating in Santa Cruz County.

He was very well known in the county, particularly in the San Lorenzo Valley where he followed farming near Ben Lomond for 20 years. Interment to be made in Felton Cemetery.
