Born in Providence RI, Mr. Mattson was a graduate of Moses Brown School and Temple University. He was a resident of Mount Pleasant SC and previously lived in Warwick RI and on Cape Cod.
A builder and designer, he owned and operated A.E. Mattson and Associates in South Carolina. He had a lifelong interest in boats and boating.
Surviving are his sisters Cynthia A. Jacobson of Warwick RI and Janice M. Presbrey of Hyannisport; six nieces and nephews; and a grandniece.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Pawtucket RI.
