Gelia was born on December 23, 1905, in Portage, Wis., to Peter and Julia (Market) Amdahl. She was the youngest of five children and attended Spring Brook School in Dunn County through the eighth grade. Gelia married Arthur Sorenson when she was 18 years old. They were married until Arthur passed away in 1948. She worked as a waitress at the Hotel Eau Claire. Although Gelia did not have a close relationship with her family, she did bring much joy to her caregivers in her later years.
Gelia is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; a son, James; and sisters, Ida, Inga and Hilda. She also had a brother, Palmer Amdahl.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, at Smith Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Andy Boe officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call an hour before services at the funeral chapel.
