Alice, a long-time Whittier first grade teacher died Thursday of natural causes. Mrs. Ackley was 87. She dedicated her life to teaching, touching hundreds of young lives in her years of service. She was the widow of prominent hymn writer, Alfred Ackley, who wrote the standard, "He Lives". Mrs. Ackley left no children but numerous extended family members that were touched by her caring and generosity.
