Margaret Y. Mitchell, 83, of Peoria and formerly of Springfield and Waverly, died Monday June 7, 2004, at Sharon Health Care, Pines Division, in Peoria.
She was born Sept. 24, 1920, the daughter of James and Jessie Lemon Curtis. She married Paul Rainey Mitchell on March 9, 1940 in Jacksonville, Fla., and he preceded her in death Dec. 6, 1972.
She is survived by two sons, Allan (wife, Linda) of Buckeye, Ariz., and Paul Franklin (wife, Gloria) of Metamora; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale (wife, Edith) Curtis of Mattoon and Donald (wife, Sherry) Curtis of Denham Springs; and one sister, Lucy Meyer of Springfield. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn Meyer Kelly.
Mrs. Mitchell was a homemaker and a member of Waverly Baptist Church.
Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Friday at Waverly East Cemetery in Waverly.
